Welcome to our website. By continuing to browse and use this website, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions of use. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any service-specific terms, govern the relationship between you and SED Hub concerning this website and our related services. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please refrain from using the website or booking our services.

The terms “SED Hub”, “SED Science Education”, “us” or “we” refer to the proprietors and operators of this website and the relevant educational services. “You” refers to the website user, viewer, applicant, customer, parent, guardian, learner, school, organisation or institution, as applicable.

The content presented on this website is intended for general information purposes and may be modified without prior notice. This website may use cookies and similar technologies in accordance with our Privacy and Cookie policies.

Neither SED Hub nor third parties provide any warranty or guarantee concerning the accuracy, timeliness, performance, completeness or suitability of website information and materials for any particular purpose, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded. Information may occasionally contain inaccuracies or errors, and liability for such inaccuracies or errors is excluded to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Your use of information or materials on this website is at your own risk. It remains your responsibility to ensure that any products, services or information obtained through this website meet your requirements.

This website contains material owned by or licensed to SED Hub, including its design, layout, appearance, graphics, branding and overall visual identity. Reproduction is prohibited except where expressly authorised. Third-party trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

Unauthorised use of this website may give rise to a claim for damages and, where applicable, may constitute an offence. External links are provided for convenience and information and do not necessarily signify endorsement. SED Hub is not responsible for the content or practices of external websites.

Applications and bookings

Submitting an application, registration or enquiry is a request for a service and does not guarantee a place, timetable, educator, delivery format or start date until SED Hub confirms the booking.

Where a statutory withdrawal right applies to a distance or off-premises consumer contract, that right remains available in accordance with applicable law.

Formal withdrawals, cancellations and termination requests must be sent in writing to [email protected]. Text messages, Facebook or other social-media messages, informal messages to educators, schools or venues, and telephone calls do not constitute formal cancellation unless SED Hub expressly confirms otherwise in writing.

Fees and payment

Fees, instalments and payment deadlines are those stated on the relevant programme page, application, invoice, quotation, booking confirmation or specific agreement. A place may remain provisional until the required payment is received. SED Hub may suspend access to unpaid services where legally permitted.

Payment may be required in full before a programme, course, institutional session or other booked service is provided.

After-school programmes and after-school sessions: cancellations and refunds

A parent, guardian or customer who wishes to cancel a booked after-school programme and request a refund must notify SED Hub in writing at least six (6) full calendar days before the scheduled commencement of the programme or block of sessions.

Cancellations made six (6) full calendar days or more before the first scheduled session may qualify for a refund, subject to these Terms and any mandatory legal rights.

Cancellations made less than six (6) full calendar days before the first scheduled session are non-refundable.

Once the programme or block of sessions has started, no refund will be provided for the programme, remaining sessions, unused sessions or missed sessions.

No refund will be provided because a learner decides not to continue after the programme has commenced. No refund will be provided for sessions missed because of absence, illness, holidays, travel, family commitments, school commitments, extracurricular activities, timetable clashes or other circumstances personal to the learner, subject always to any mandatory legal rights.

Failure to attend does not constitute cancellation and does not create an entitlement to a refund, credit, replacement session or transfer. Leaving a programme early does not create an entitlement to a partial or pro-rata refund.

A parent or guardian must not assume that notifying a school, educator, venue or another third party constitutes cancellation. Cancellation must be communicated directly to SED Hub at [email protected]. Any contractual refund entitlement is determined by the date on which SED Hub receives the written cancellation notice.

Calculation of the six-day cancellation period

The six-day period is calculated by reference to the scheduled start date of the first session of the booked programme or block. For example, if the first session is scheduled for a Monday, SED Hub must receive the cancellation no later than the preceding Tuesday for the cancellation to fall within the six-full-calendar-day cancellation period.

A cancellation received after the applicable deadline is treated as a late cancellation and does not qualify for a contractual refund, subject to any mandatory rights under applicable law.

Programmes already commenced

Once the first scheduled session of an after-school programme has commenced, the booking is considered to have started. Payments are thereafter non-refundable in respect of sessions already delivered, sessions the learner did not attend, remaining sessions which the learner elects not to attend, withdrawal from the programme by the learner or parent/guardian, or changes in the learner’s personal timetable or availability.

This applies whether the programme fee was paid in full, by instalment or through another agreed payment arrangement. Where instalments have been agreed, withdrawal from attendance does not automatically cancel payment obligations already contractually due, subject to applicable law and the specific payment terms agreed at booking.

Individual lessons, Homework Club and reserved slots

Where SED Hub provides individual lessons, Homework Club slots or other specifically reserved one-to-one or small-group sessions, service-specific cancellation rules stated in the relevant booking confirmation, application form, invoice or programme page apply.

Unless a different service-specific rule has been expressly agreed, cancellation or rescheduling of a reserved slot must be requested at least 120 hours before the scheduled lesson by emailing [email protected].

Where SED Hub agrees to reschedule, the replacement slot is subject to availability and may be arranged within the same week or the following week. In the case of unexpected illness before an individual reserved slot, SED Hub may require appropriate supporting medical documentation before agreeing to reschedule.

Failure to comply with the applicable cancellation procedure may result in the unattended slot remaining payable or non-refundable. Additional slots specifically requested by a learner outside the standard set of booked slots may be designated non-cancellable where stated at booking.

Termination of ongoing individual services

Where an ongoing tuition, Homework Club or other individual service is subject to a notice period stated at booking, termination of all future slots may require at least three (3) weeks’ written notice to [email protected]. Where the three-week notice requirement applies, sessions falling within that notice period remain payable whether attended or not, subject to mandatory legal rights.

Illness and absence

Short-term illness, absence or inability to attend an individual after-school session does not normally entitle the learner to a refund, replacement session, transfer or credit.

Where exceptional and serious circumstances arise, SED Hub may, entirely at its discretion and without creating a precedent or contractual entitlement, consider an alternative arrangement such as a transfer or credit where operationally possible. Any such discretionary arrangement does not amend the general cancellation policy.

Changes of mind

A change of mind, change in personal preference, loss of interest, alternative extracurricular commitment or decision to stop attending does not constitute grounds for a refund once the applicable cancellation deadline has passed.

Transfers

Requests to transfer a learner to another programme, day, time, level or intake are subject to availability and SED Hub approval. A transfer is not guaranteed and does not create an automatic right to a refund. SED Hub may impose reasonable conditions on transfers where staff, places, materials, equipment, venues or other resources have already been committed.

Fixed-date courses, camps and programmes

Courses, camps, FutureLab activities, parties, school programmes, workshops and other fixed-date services reserve staff, materials, equipment and capacity. Cancellation, transfer and refund treatment therefore depends on the service, notice given, costs already committed, performance already supplied and any mandatory consumer rights.

Where a specific programme page, application, invoice, quotation or confirmation contains more specific cancellation terms, those service-specific terms apply to that booking. Missed sessions are not automatically refundable or replaceable.

Schools and institutional services

School, university, government, corporate and other institutional engagements may be governed by a separate proposal, purchase order, service agreement, quotation or contract. If there is a conflict, the specifically agreed institutional document takes priority for that engagement.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, slots or courses reserved by schools require a minimum two-week notification period for rescheduling.

If a SED Hub educator or science explainer is unable to deliver a scheduled service due to illness or another unavoidable operational reason, the institution will be notified as soon as reasonably practicable. SED Hub may provide a replacement educator, rescheduled session, credit or appropriate refund depending on the circumstances and applicable agreement.

Payment may be required in full before institutional sessions are provided. Where institutional staffing, materials, equipment or dates have already been committed, a school’s decision not to proceed does not automatically create an entitlement to a refund.

Replicating, reproducing, recording, distributing or re-delivering SED Hub proprietary materials, lesson structures, class formats or programme formats by tutors, attendees or institutions without written permission is strictly prohibited.

Refund administration

Where a refund is approved under these Terms, SED Hub may retain an administrative amount of up to 10% of the refundable amount where this represents registration, payment-processing or administrative costs already incurred and where such retention is lawful.

Where mandatory consumer law requires a refund without such deduction, the mandatory legal requirement prevails. Approved refunds will be processed using an appropriate payment method and within any legally required timeframe. Processing times imposed by banks, card providers or payment processors are outside SED Hub’s control.

Programme changes

SED Hub may make reasonable changes to educators, activities, sequencing, rooms, venues, digital tools, equipment or programme content where necessary for safety, educational quality, operational reasons or circumstances beyond reasonable control. Reasonable operational changes do not by themselves create an entitlement to a refund.

If SED Hub makes a material change to a booked service, affected clients will be informed and any applicable legal remedies preserved.

Cancellation by SED Hub

If SED Hub cancels an entire programme before it begins and does not provide a reasonable replacement, transfer or rescheduled alternative, affected customers will receive the appropriate remedy for the service not provided.

If SED Hub cancels an individual session, SED Hub may reschedule the session, provide a replacement session, transfer its value to another appropriate session, provide a credit, or provide an appropriate refund where required. The remedy offered will depend on the circumstances and applicable legal requirements.

Children, safeguarding and collection

Parents/guardians must provide accurate learner, medical, allergy, emergency and authorised-collection information and update SED Hub when circumstances change. Learners must follow reasonable safety instructions. Collection, digital communication and media arrangements are subject to safeguarding procedures and the permissions recorded for the learner.

Health and medical information

Educational activities are not medical care. Parents/guardians remain responsible for providing accurate health, allergy and medication information and any instructions reasonably required for safe participation. Where a child is unwell or participation would create an unreasonable safety risk, SED Hub may require the child not to attend or may adapt participation.

Portal accounts and digital access

Portal credentials are personal to the authorised learner, parent/guardian, educator or institution and must not be shared outside the authorised household or organisation. Users must protect passwords and report suspected unauthorised access. Portal notes, activities, feedback and progress records are educational supports and do not guarantee a particular academic outcome.

Resources and intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, SED Hub course content, activity sheets, videos, portal materials, programme structures, branding and original resources are protected by intellectual-property rights. They are supplied for the authorised learner, family, class or institution and may not be republished, resold, uploaded publicly, copied or distributed beyond the permitted use without written permission.

Recording, photographs and media

No participant may record, photograph, screenshot or redistribute sessions or other participants without the required permission. SED Hub will seek separate consent where individual pupil images, recordings or presentations are proposed for restricted family areas or wider public use. Refusal of optional public-media consent does not prevent participation in the core programme.

Online services and technology

Users are responsible for a suitable device, internet connection and safe learning environment for online services. SED Hub will take reasonable steps to provide the scheduled digital service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access where outages or third-party services are outside its reasonable control.

Home education

SED Hub homeschool curriculum and support are educational services. Parents/guardians remain responsible for checking and complying with the legal registration, curriculum, attendance, assessment, reporting or inspection requirements that apply to home education in the learner’s jurisdiction.

Conduct

SED Hub may remove or suspend a participant for serious or repeated unsafe, abusive, disruptive, discriminatory, dishonest or inappropriate conduct where proportionate and lawful. Parents, learners, educators and partners are expected to communicate respectfully and follow reasonable safeguarding and safety requirements.

Educational outcomes and academic integrity

SED Hub provides education, enrichment, resources and learning support but does not guarantee grades, admissions, examination results, employment outcomes or professional licensing. Learners remain responsible for complying with school, examination-board, university and academic-integrity rules, including rules governing artificial intelligence.

Acceptance of cancellation terms

SED Hub may require applicants, parents, guardians or customers to confirm acceptance of these Terms during application, registration or payment. Where a booking form includes an acceptance checkbox, completing the booking confirms agreement to the cancellation and refund conditions applicable to that service.

Complaints

Concerns should be sent to [email protected] with enough information for SED Hub to investigate. Nothing in these Terms prevents an eligible consumer from using rights or dispute-resolution mechanisms available under applicable law.

Mandatory consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove, restrict or override any statutory consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where a mandatory legal right conflicts with a contractual provision in these Terms, the mandatory legal requirement prevails.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malta, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections that may apply under the law of their habitual residence where those protections cannot lawfully be excluded.
